Windows 7 DVD not recognised by my dvd drive

Got windows 7 for xmas, 32 and 64 bit, been all over the internet trying to find a solution to this problem !!

the problem is basically when i put in my windows installation disc, its not recognised or appearing in the dvd drive on my computer.

The dvd works as i tried it on my friends pc last night to see if maybe they'd sent me a blank one or something lol
It shows up as having nothing in the drive

My mobo is Asus p5n-d and my dvd is optiarc ad-1707S

Please help i can't take windows xp any longer

    Hello, Welcome!

Can you confirm that the drive works? Try another DVD in the drive.

    Thanks,
