Windows 7 Installation Freezes

    I tried to install from vista as a custom install. It got to the completing installation and hung there for about 2 hours before I gave up and reverted the installation.
    The memtest I had run for about 30 mins with no errors showing up at all.
    As for the drive being bad, I still doubt it. I managed to reinstall Vista just fine after I erased the partition for 7. My next step will be to swap out the drive with the drive in my computer I already have 7. Try a clean install and hope it works.

    While some will say several hours like overnight with memtest generally you'll see at least one error if you have a bad dimm.

    The move over to the other system should show right off if the drive itself is having a problem. Another thought would be the data cable used if you suddenly see results. While you may not see too many sata cables with problems? I still ordered a number of high quality cables and tend to toss the ones that come with boards or drives(if bought retail) in a box as spares.
