Don't think you need to remove any piece of hardware. just uninstall the third party hardware drivers and your security softwares before upgrading.

KERNELBASE.dll is a "core" dll for windows 7... kind of odd. something installed(third party driver/software) must be messing up during the upgrade.

You're probably better off waiting for the build 7057 x64 to leak on the web and retry to upgrade your build 7000 with this version, or go for a fresh intall.
