    Multiboot system

    My present PC is configured:
    Systempartition C:, Fat32, 5GB, active, with ntdetect, boot.ini, ntldr
    for two OS.
The OS are in the following logical partitions:
    D: NTFS, 30GB, free,
    E: NTFS, 30 GB; XP1 for working,
    F: NTFS, 30 GB, XP2 for testing,
    .
Is it possible to install win7 in D: without destroying the present microsoft bootmanager in C: for the two old OS? Do I have to convert PartC: to NTFS before?

    Many thanks

    Welcome to SevenForums!

I am afraid that will not work. Windows needs to be installed on a Primary partition. Otherwise, you could not boot.

Good thing you asked, though. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want.

If you install Win 7 after XP, it will put its boot files on the current boot partition. I do not know if it can install its files on a fat32 partition.

You might try it...I would say convert the partition to NTFS, but I do not want to take a chance of messing up you current boot.

    My system was (all NTFS):

Drive 1: One partition - C: with WindowsXP
Drive 2: Two partitions - D: and Q: with WindowsXP installed on both

I installed Windows 7 Pro on partition Q, eliminating one of the XP installs. In doing so a new boot loader (or whatever it is called) installed and so on boot I have the choice of Windows 7 or Older XP installs. If I select the latter, I get my previous boot screen allowing a choice between C: and D: windowsxp installations. Works fine.
