Win 7 Pro 64 clean instal source?

    Win 7 Pro 64 clean instal source?


    I bought and download Win 7 Pro 32 through the digital river deal. I didn't realize it was a 32 bit issue and not a Vista issue that my 4 gigs RAM wouldnt all be used.

    I know that the retail version lets you instal either 32 or 64, but I dont have the instal for 64, just the downloaded ISO and EXE files for 32 (and the disk in the mail from them). Is there anyway I can instal 64 without having to wait for tech support from Digital River next week? (ie download) My key should work for 64 too, right?

    Your key is good for either 64 or 32, one at a time.

    richc46 says the key is good for either version and hopefully he is right.

    I know my daughter bought the x64 version from school and it had its own key. Each disc sold that way had its own key, so will yours work or either version, I do not know. But if you are able to activate would you please post back so we will know?

    Saltgrass may indeed have legitimate concerns, especially since his daugher actually had an experience with Digital River. It was my understanding, that Digital River did indeed send only one DVD, primarily due to the cheap sales price. To the best of my knowledge the keys are good for either 32 or 64 bit. I do agree that we would like to hear about your personal experience, since there are different opinions at this juncture. Thanks

    I will gladly try if I can get the ISO or exe for 64. Otherwise I will wait for tech support to get back. I will let you know what happens either way.

    Found the 64 pro iso digital river download link on another site. I didn't realize the iso files were so publicly available. I have it dowloading now. I'll udate when something happens.

    It worked. I used the key from my 32 bit order with an 64 bit iso from digital river.

    I first burned two different downloads of the iso 4 times total with the same lightscribe disks and I kept getting an error during installation at file expansion. I finally went and got new dvd+r's and got a verified burn. I read it was faster to instal using USB so I made a bootable one with the verified 64 bit burn.

    I used this tutorial to create the USB setup: Install Windows 7 From USB Drive/Pen Drive
    NOTE: This method only works for vista/7. Also, when creating the USB boot on a 32 bit system for a 64 bit system you must use the 32 bit boot disk during the boot sector part (bootsect.exe...).

    Once it was done I restarted. It probably took 15 minutes to get to the product key entry. Verified no problem, up and running minutes later.
