Get back to standard installation

Hello everybody,

I'm working with Windows 7 now for like 2 weeks, I like ik very much but because of wrong installation I want to get back to my standard installation, what I mean with that is the installation when I turned my computer on for the first time. I already did it twice with Windows XP.

I just turned on my PC when I saw the COMPAQ Logo i pressed F10. But since I have Windows 7 it doesn't work anymore because windows 7 doesn't reads my D:\

But when i'm in my computer it still sais that computer recovery still exists because totally I have 6,36 GB on my D:\ and I only have 914 MB available.

Does anybody knows how to solve this or how to format my whole pc and return it in to it's normal state?

Reverting to how Windows 7 was at first is only really possible if you have a drive image of it as a clone, either provided by your OEM hardware manufacturer - or made by you using Windows Backup or a third party drive imaging utility.

You might be able to revert to something close with System Restore, however this is drive imagings poor cousin and is not anything like as sure-footed.

Ok where can I find the exact model thingy?
And during the installation I can format my C:\ Drive?
And the installation WAS good until I installed it twice with my stupid head.
I already threw it away but now it's slow so that's why.

I only have this CD: Compaq FP1706/1906 Software and Documentation.
I already checked it but I thought it was unuseable

Some laptop models can be found on a sticker underneath the laptop (back side). Check the exact model type and post it here please.

No, the format starts before the install begins. And if you installed the OS twice and something went wrong, delete all partitions and create a new partition out of the unallocated space (this can all be done from the install DVD's advanced options on the hard drive selection screen). A full format + combining all partitions into one should do the job for a fully clean install. Make sure to backup your data before installing. If you want your hard drive to have more than one partition you can set up/add additional partitions after the clean install.

1. Sorry, I don't have a laptop.

2. So if I'm good, I pop in my installation disc, start it up, choose my installation, go to advanced options on the hard drive selection screen, from there I can delete partitions and make new ones, Install Windows 7 again. If this is it I would be happy :) and sorry for the many questions, I'm Dutch so I don't get everything when I read it once.

You english much better than my dutch. do you have either the XP disk or the win 7 disk? do you have the "recovery disk"

We can fix this, we just need a bit more information.

I have both discs but I have to borrow the XP installation disc from my mother. I already tried to install Win XP again but the option ''Install Win XP'' isn't enabled
I think because Windows.old still exists. But does that matter?
