I havent tried shift f10. Need to try that and see what happens...

If I press alt+ctrl+del it reboots, so the machine isnt frozen. Its still responsive. My guess is that the boot sector got damaged from going from 7 to xp like mentioned above. I really need to get my hands on that ISO lol.

Thanks for the link from MS. That should help me once I get my ISO going. Just need to find a computer now...

Try booting the XP CD, Press Enter at Setup Screen, when it discovers an installation, see if it gives you the repair option.

This means you have an installation and it is reparable. Choose Repair and let it try to fix it.

I downloaded the Win7 repair console and was able to boot up. Now I just need to dual boot XP.

I was told that you cannot go from 7 to XP for dual boot... is this correct?

Try this tutorial. There is a part in it that says how to dual boot when xp is the second os installed. good luck to you.
Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP
You must finish the tutorial by downloading the net frame work and easy bcd. Looks like that was your problem. after you do steps 7 to 17 you should have what you want.

This sounds like you are now in Win 7. If so, try to attach a diskmgmt.msc picture of your situation.

You may be trying to install XP on the same partition as Win 7, but it would be much easier for us to tell with a picture.

It is also very important, if it hasn't already been said, for you to know which drive is the primary, or first in the drive order in the bios. If a partition on the drive says "system" in Disk Management, it is the primary drive.

This is the tutorial that I used for the dual boot. XP never loaded when it restarts during installation and then thats when I couldnt get into any OS.

I followed the tutorial and created a separate partition to install Xp through the disc management.

Sorry that it did not work for you, I thought maybe you did not understand that when you installed XP that you would need to repair the bootloader so to be able to dual boot, That is what steps 7-17 deal with.

It's very easy to dual boot.

If you post a screenshot of Disk Management window - we will be able to see where you went wrong.
