Installing on 3rd party pre-formatted NTFS 3.1
I've yet to move to 7 & was planning a dual boot with XP. As far as I can establish, XP, Vista & 7 all use NTFS version 3.1, however I've heard stories of incompatibility (though never specific & nothing mentioned on MS/TechNet etc).
...I usually do clean installs on partitions I've created using Partition Magic 8 (run from a CD so it is NOT installed & has no compatibility issues with the OS!), which also uses NTFS 3.1
Does anyone know if Win7 will install on a pre-formatted partition or does it insist on performing its own format which in siome way differs from the standard NTFS 3.1 spec?
The reason it is important is partly that I wish to continue using the Symantic version of Ghost (2003/v8) that runs from a boot disk, but also because if there is a difference in Win7 formatting and associated compatibility issues I wish to know exactly what this is so that I can both further my understanding and make properly informed decisions!
Many thanks in advance
