Installing Windows 7 on an Amilo Xi2528
Just thought I'd share this as it took me while to locate everything to do this.
This applies to a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi 2528 - you can probably figure out how to get the correct drivers for other Amilo models from this information.
Installing Windows 7 onto an Amilo requires SATA drivers to enable the installation process to see the hard drives - otherwise you wont see any at all.
When installing, you are given the option to browse for the correct drivers, and if you put the correct drivers onto a USB flash drive - either before installation, or during (using another computer) you can locate them during the install and you'll then be able to see the hard disks, and choose where you want to install to.
I previously posted this in an Amilo forum, so I'll just c&p it here:
=======================
I found the correct drivers here:
ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb36x/XP_Vista_Win7/
I downloaded this particular file (this was the only one with Win7 in the title - although there was one called Win7 eSata, but that's for external sata drives):
JMB36X_WinDrv_R1.17.47WHQL_WIN7.zip
Unzipped it all onto a USB flash drive, then when W7 installation asked where to browse to, I browsed to this directory on the USB stick:
JMB36X_WinDrv_R1.17.47WHQL_WIN7\R1.17.47.14\Driver\x32
I don't know if all of this information will apply to every Xi2528 model but it works for me, and I hope it works for you too.
I've also made the zip file available here, for your convenience:
http://curtjackson.co.uk/files/JMB36X_W ... L_WIN7.zip
edit (Sep 20 2017): The file is no longer available on this server. Search for JMB36X_WinDrv_R1.17.47WHQL_WIN7.zip and you're likely to find the file.
Cheerio.
