Haupage

I am not an expert with Haupage but I would suggest that you visit their site and see if they have a device driver for your particular card and supports windows 7, or un-install the card power off and restatr youe system and see if windows 7 sees the card as a new piece of hardware and tries to install it.
I would caution that you make a restore point first because this procedure may be the start of the issues.
I'll stand by if you like.

Two things I want to say...
1. Jmack great job in giving the details up front in your first message. Especially answering many questions up front.

2. Adrian, GREAT JOB in your systematic approach in resolving the issues at hand.

My 2 cents.

Ok, check the device manager to see if you have any more yellow cautions, please check your processor and make sure that all cores are functioning.
After that we will begin loading updates.

No cautions found and all 4 cores are accounted for.

SUM UP

Ok my friend, lets sum up:
  • System is stable
  • Av installed
  • All devices are working
  • No external drives are attached
  • HDD and video card working
Next, its time to install the updates, b4 we beging, are you able to make screenshots. I want to look at your action center and look at the updates section and see what it is telling us? This is what I want to see.

Updates

Ok then, I see by the action center that no windows 7 updates are needed at this time. Next, I want you to review your update history. You will need to perform the following:
  1. Go to start
  2. Programs
  3. Windows Update
Attached is a screenshot for you to see.

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/5869/hugetemp.jpg My windows partition is 100 GB and I always was curios how did it get full, I wonder if it's normal to have a 40GB temp folder, and what would happen if I delete it? All the files that I need are saved, so I guess nothing will be loss.
