here is how to use 7 zip
Tutorial: Extracting files with 7-Zip | Binaries4all Usenet Tutorials
ok what exactly happened when you tried to use those files
I extracted the files onto my flash drive.
Plugged the drive into my new computer and booted Windows 7 from the DVD and went through the install process. When it gets to the screen where it asks me to select the drive on which to install windows, no hard drives are showing up. So, I click on the get drivers button, select my flash drive and hit OK. It thinks for a minute, refreshes the drive list and still nothing shows up. So, for whatever reason, windows 7 is still unable to see my hard drive when I try to install.
I thought it might be a problem with the drive, so I plugged it into my old computer (which is running XP) and it sees it fine.
how were the files on the flash drive in a folder or just the files
I put them in a separate folder on the flash drive called "Drivers." Windows 7 isn't seeing the individual files.
ok the installer is not that smart just put the files on the drive not in a folder
Well, that didn't work either. It keeps shooting me this message: "No signed device drivers. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers and click OK."
Just a note,RAM can sometimes casue the installation to go awry, try taking out 4gig just for the installation then put it back in.
And you have the BIOS settings so the SATA is a bootable HD in the boot order somewhere?
well those are the right drivers based on the board info
