Will not see HD on Fresh Install

    Hello,

I've browsed this forum and have found that other people have had issues with Windows 7 not being able to see their Harddrives. I am having the same problem, but none of the remedies mentioned will work for me.

I am not upgrading form a previous OS, this is a new system with brand new everything. So, i have an empty WD Caviar Blue SATA II that is waiting for Windows 7. Unfortunately, when Setup gets to the "Select Drive" screen, no drive shows up. The drive is visible in my Bios, so I know it's plugged in right. But, Windows 7 is failing to find it.

Are there some drivers I need to download to make it show up?

    Thanks for your input.

    Go into control panel>aministrative tool>computer management>disc management.
In there you should see your SataII drive.
    Right click>assgin letter.

    It should pick it up.

If you cannot see your hard drive in the my computer window but you can see it in device manager then this will work.

    Drivers

you need to download and unzip the SATA/RAID drivers for your motherboard on a USB flash drive and when you get to the drive setup screen you can load them from the flash drive so the system will then be able to install to the hard drive after loading the drivers
