32-Bit BootSect

Good Morning Everyone.

I am trying to install a copy of the 64-bit Windows 7 I bought from Digital River, but the laptop will not start from the DVD. I can open the ISO using PowerArchiver or Nero, as well as mounting the ISO using PowerArchiver or DaemonTools, so I know the archive checks out.

I am running the 32-bit version of Vista and am trying to put together the USB setup disk, but I can not find a 32-bit version of BootSect. I've spent several days searching the Internet trying to find a copy, to no success. Is anyone willing to eMail me a copy?

Alternately, I saw the thread about BCDEdit, but I do not find that on my Vista system. Is it on the market version of the CD/DVD or is it part of the actual OS? I have a pre-built system from HP, so I only have their semi-retarded "Recovery Disks."

Any help is greatly appreciated. I know a ton of people have had this problem with Digital River. I wish I had have know beforehand, especially since they have been less than helpful.

Here you go - rt click the .zip >Properties>Unblock>Apply>OK.

Rt click the .zip -Extract All - then copy bootsect.exe into Windows\System32 on your Vista system .

You won't need to change directory to it in cmd as it opens at System32 by default.

You already have bcdedit in Vista - look in the same place Windows\System32 folder

I did not attempt the Student D/L tutorial, as I received the actual ISO, not a "box" file.

Hi, can you explain how you were able to add the 32-bit bootsec to your USB? I'm having trouble doing it and the programs that were suggested don't work.
