do you mean install.wim?
you need the 32 bit installation disc.
What exactly are you trying to do ?
What do you have on your usb drive already ?
Depending on what you want , you may be able to use the boot.wim from the 32 repair disc
Download Windows 7 System Recovery Discs — The NeoSmart Files
see my post here: 32-bit XP to Make USB to install 64-bit Win 7
I have a brand new machine without a DVD drive (I have an ext dvd drive but i can't seem to boot from it). I have an old XP SP3 laptop with a DVD drive, which i am trying to use to make a Win7 Install USB, but my XP is 32-bit and my Win 7 is 64-bit so I keep having problems.
Thanks,

If you want to make a bootable flash from your oem dvd , use wintoflash - I suggest this version: 0.5.0013 beta
WinToFlash: Make a Bootable USB Installer for ...
Hmm.. I've tried that.. it didn't work. I'm starting to wonder if perhaps the computer I'm trying to install on is the problem? I don't understand why it would be.. but perhaps it is. Any way to tell? I keep getting the message:
"Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press any key"
Thanks for your help,

That means it isn't being seen as bootable.
Is the oem dvd bootable ?
Have you tried copying the dvd as an iso to the HD ? Use this: ISO Recorder v 2
pick it up with an iso handler e.g. PowerISO 4.2 - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com ( the free trial version will be fine ) and see if it says bootable at the bottom of the screen.
Hi everyone, i'm having a similar problem, but not quite the same. I have a laptop with Win7 64bit, and from this laptop i'm trying to make a bootable usb with Win7 x86 (32 bit) with the windows 7 USB tool (the one you download from microsoft) to install it in another laptop. Well, at the end of the bootable usb making process with the tool, i get the message "Files copied successfully. However we were unable to make the USB device bootable. If you need assistance with bootsect, please click..". So, i went to the online help and they say this may be due to the fact that there's no bootsect.exe in the usb tool install folder, but i checked and it is there. What's the problem, how do i get to make my usb bootable?
