but for your board and processor they are win 7 compatible, as well as the vid card.

any reason you cannot just simply do a clean install. there is a very good chance that on a clean install this issue would not popup. most vista drivers should work in win 7. good case in point you are running an i7 board, so all of the drivers you need for 7 should be on the disk that came with the board. the 1156 socket boards came out at least 3 months after the first 7 beta was out. please update you specs to show which gigabyte mobo you are using, and list any add-on cards as well. also 32 bit or 64 bit vista?

If you are not able to Update the requested drivers from Device manager, then you should back up your data and boot Win7 DVD to do a clean install: Clean Install Windows 7

The DVD will scan you HD at bootup to see Vista and allow you to use Upgrade key.

it is your call, however most of us would recommend a clean install. with the way windows handles files it deletes during a upgrade these deleted files can bleed through and cause problems. even on a clean install i recommend a third party disk wipe utility and at least 3 passes.

Before clean install, back up your files. Include windows/system32/drivers so that you have your Vista drivers in case any are missing after Win7 clean install. Browse there from missing Device driver tab in Device manager.

I managed to update it, after updating some drivers. But now under the devices tab, i dont see the Storage things that i was seeing before (these SSCI/RAID etc..) although i don't see any error or abnormality on my pc. Is that bad?

I think your clean install replaced those storage drivers with more modern SATA version. Expected it would. The SCSCI weren't even listed on mobo downloads page.

How is performance? Did you check for newer drivers in optional Windows Updates?

You might still want to do a superior Clean Install if Win7 is less than instantaneous after all driver errors are removed from Device Manager, Updates done.
