Do you have the Win 7 System Reserve Partition? I have been testing and have not found a way to install XP after Win 7 on the same drive if that partition is present.

Installing without the partition present is no problem. You cannot just delete it, but must redo your boot system.

You might want to wait to see what other folks say about my assertion concerning your particular XP install. I could still be wrong.

If you delete the System Reserve Partition, you will have to re-do your boot by making and Win 7 partition active and then running a startup repair from the Win 7 install DVD 2 or 3 times. That would fix your boot.

You always have the option of using another hard drive, if this is a desktop.

Are you sure you would not rather run the XP virtual machine?

You can check here and see if your system will run it. I believe there are other options if it will not.

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/vir.../download.aspx

Have you tried installing the software in Win 7 using compatibility mode?
