so i just bought a new asus laptop that brings windows 7 home premium 64 bit.
the thing is, it's full of crappy software so i wanted to format it and reinstall it.
i have a windows 7 iso from msdnaa that i can use to install.
what i want to know is this: i reinstall windows, use the key that's under my laptop and can i reactivate it again? or do i need a new key like the ones msdnaa provided me with?

That is what the key on the laptop is for - in case you need to clean install.
Oem's vary in how they handle it - you may find it activates fine - or you may have to ring asus. In any event you are entitled to that key - it is the licesne you bought with the machine.

it's just because i once had a sony vaio and i reinstalled windows xp (same version) and i had some problems with that key (it's been so long i don't remember) and i just wanted to check with you guys :)
yeah occasionally you will have to jump through hoops to use the oem key, or at least that was the case with vista hadn't had the need to try it on 7 yet. but after you get it cleared up you can use the key on a clean install. HP used to be quite troublesome with this but idk what to expect from asus as i havn't bought a new oem machine in some time.
I downloaded PC Decrapifier and uninstalled all the junk software. Works like a charm with XP and Vista but not sure for Win7 . Worth a look at their website . Welcome | The PC Decrapifier
The keys on the sticker are batch keys which require an activation robocall to sort out. If you want the actual key, use Belarc Advisor to audit it from your mobo.
If you need to unlock all versions in your MSDNAA installer: Unlock all versions Win7
Sometimes inputting the actual audited key will not require the robocall to MS to sort out the sticker's batch key, in my experience.

Often the keys on the sticker will activate online immediately - Dell springs to mind.
Almost always , the key on the HD is a special volume key dependant upon the manufacturer activation code and slic., there is no way you can activate that online.
I haven't come across an oem preinstall where the HD key can be used to activate online. At least not when it is a volume machine - which is what almost everyone has.
Mine came with an oem preinstall - but it is not a high volume machine. The specialist manufacturer installed using a Retail ( system builder ) license, - in those unusual circumstances - they HD key is the correct one to use.
