Move Windows 7 from G:\ to C:\

Thanks to everyone for the helpful suggestions. I certainly have enough now to go on. I am not quite ready to make the jump but it will be soon. I shall report back re my 'success'!!.

Strange,when i have dual boot,widows 7 always changes its drive to c: while windows is loaded regardless of the letter i installed it on.
Watch what u do,it would be so easy to muck up ur mbr.I will do just about anything with my os except this...it usually turns out bad.I would leave alone unless u have to do it.
Try just making g: active in disk management.It might sort itself out.

It seems to me that even if you clone, you will have to repair the mbr because the mbr will be set up as per your previous OS arrangement. So either way you will have to muck about with the repair of the boot files, but since it is very easy to "repair" the boot files with the W7 disk, I don't think it's such a chore.
BTW, Acronis copies the mbr files with every image it does, you just have to do a separate restore of them by checking a box labeled "mbr".
