Error code Inspiron 1525

I pop in my self-burned Windows 7 32 DVD and go through the installation. All goes well until I get to the installing features point. I then get an error message that says something along the lines of "The installation files can not be something. Make sure the file is available and restart the installation." It also has an error code 0x8007045D.

I know its not the DVD because I've used it before and its scratch free...

The reason I'm putting 7 on this laptop to begin with is because Vista wouldn't boot and was giving me a system32\ntkrnlpa.exe error..quite frankly I want to not give a shit and just tell the person their HD is jammed because this is not my laptop. I'm getting so frustrated.

Just tried installing original OEM Vista SP 1 disc that came with the laptop, same error

Sounds like a hard drive or memory problem. Pull the hard drive (usually held in place by 1 or 2 screws on the bottom of the laptop) and see who the manufacturer is. Go to their web site and download their drive utility. It will be available as a iso file that you use to create a bootable CD from.

Boot the CD and run the diagnostic, see if it finds any problems. If not, download DBAN (Derrick's Boot and Nuke), create a CD from the iso, boot it and when prompted, enter autonuke. Let it run for 1 pass. This will take awhile.

Now boot the Windows 7 DVD and take the Custom path to create a partition for the drive and format it NTFS. See if it will install now.

If not, check the memory.

There are two programs that are normally used to test computer memory, Memtest86 and Microsoft Memory Diagnostic. They are available from the following locations:

Microsoft Memory Diagnostic

They are bootable CD ISO images. You don't burn the iso file itself to CD., you create a CD from the iso file using your CD burning software. There is a good freeware burner called ImgBurn which will do this easily.

Boot your Vista DVD, select Repair my computer, then see if it finds an installation to repair. Either way, click through to Startup Repair and run repeatedly until Vista starts up.

Now, extract the ISO to Vista desktop and try Running setup for a Custom install over the Vista, or to a second partition you create in Disk Mgmt.

You can also Verify Disk against the ISO using ImgBurn. Load ISo first to make sure it says bootable in text at left, then put in DVd and verify. If probs, reburn at 4x with Verify.

This error is most frequently DVD burn, but it can also be a needed HD controller driver which is why it would be good to get Vista started to run from OS.
