WGA problems on a OEM machine

hi guys, need a little advice, girlfriends got herself a new toshiba laptop, got it finally set up properly, and its come up with "not genuine" watermarks, now i now the easiest way to fix this is a reinstall, but id really rather not do that,

just wondering, where would i stand legally if i used a program based loader to inject the Toshiba serial and certificate into windows, i mean its a toshiba oem machine and id load the toshiba credentials, its just not a "legal" way of activating it, do you think this would be ok EULA wise?

From a legal standpoint you will be better off to do a clean install... the fact that you now have a watermarked version will bring you nothing but grief.. Its problematic whether you will be able to download updates as your copy of windows can not pass WGA... Do the right thing and reinstall...Then image your drive in case this happens again...

Why not return it, being a new machine and all?

Many OEMs use a standard widespread key for their initial installs. Couldn't you have used the change key link and put in the serial from the bottom of the laptop? I realize it is too late, but that should have been your option. I did this recently with a family member's Gateway laptop.

deacon... i didnt even think of that.... what i was proposing was sort of the same thing, its just a program which puts the widespread key in for you, but i will bear that in mind if it happens again thanks!

A Repair Install will reset the activation completely, while keeping programs, files and settings in place.
