    Urgent Help

I have a Gateway SX 2800-01r with Win 7 64bit until today everything was normal n runing smooth. When I turn on my system I am normally greeted with Gateway Logo then Starting
Windows logo then Login screen now today when i turned on my system I saw ACER Empowering People logo n was very surprised n suspicious so i restarted system n went in bios where under product info i saw Prod. Company: Acer ; Product Name: Aspire X3810. I found this to be very puzzling since it always said P.C: Gateway ; P.N: SX 2800.
After seein this startling development I started W7 n went in Control Panel\System n saw usual info
    Manufacturer: Gateway
    Model: SX2800
So upon more investigation i went in "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools\Advanced Tools" where i saw under System Summary
    System Manufact.: Acer
    System Model: Aspire X3810
Upon seein this info I decided to re-install W7 with my 3 Recovery Discs since i thought it might be some sort of virus r something but when the first disc loaded instead of seein the usual Gateway Recovery Management Console screen it was saying Acer Recovery Management Console even though it was Gateway Recovery which i used to burn the discs when i first used my system.
Is this normal r am I just paranoid, i was thinking someway somehow my bios info has been corrupted r hacked. Can anyone help me plz?

So what does that mean that i now have an Aspire X3810 when I bought a Gateway SX 2800. Why would this info change without any reason although i have recovered system on many occasions since purchased n what cud cause my bios info to change without my consent r how cud it change when everything else on the system is the same at least appears to be the same?

Something that seemed a bit suspicious also was immediately after i first saw the Acer Logo unusually CHKDSK ran for a while saying all kinds of stuff with about 4-8 tests which seemed strange so maybe that is some sort of clue as to what may have happened

Acer owns Gateway now. You can see it also in the Support webpages.

so how/why would my bios info change without my consent n how do i change whatever has changed to what it was before because it seems they mergered a while back n what does this have to do with my system specs. since i have a SX 2800 n bios is saying i have an Aspire X3810. I googled the Aspire X3810 n the specs. are very similar but how did my bios make the change n can it be changed?

Have you upgraded your BIOS? Do you have Gateway updates turned on? A BIOS update might have come in that way.

Why don't you call Gateway tech support to ask them, tho they might answer "Acer Tech Support."

No i didn't upgrade bios, doesn't it take a flash program to edit bios settings r some sort of setting in regedit I mean there must be some explanation as to what happened r did someone send a virus/rootkit to my system. Does anyone who have Gateway systems have the same thing occur r is there some log/file on my system where i can see how & what changed. I can only remember installing UltraVPN but i got error running so i found out that installing both OpenVPN & FreeVPN would work as they did then i uninstalled UltraVPN, now i have 3 Network Adapters TAP-Win32 Adapter V9 & V9 #2 which were installed with both programs along with my Intel(R) 82567V-2. Those r the last programs i ran n changes i made to my system before i shut it down yesterday then later when i started my system again I saw the Acer Logo instead of usual Gateway Logo immediately followed by an unusual CHKDSK with about 4-8 tests before system booted, now since that when i turn on my system it takes about double the time it took to boot to Login Screen before whatever it is that happened. When I tried to recover with GATEWAY RECOVERY DISCS to restore original settings I get ACER RECOVERY MANAGEMENT CONSOLE instead of the usual GATEWAY MANAGEMENT CONSOLE which means this setting is deeper in the system's DNA. There must be someone who can help me to understand/comprehend/find a solution as to what happened to my Gateway SX2800 PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

So there is no explanation this type of thing happens all the time? I just want to know if it is a routine upgrade r if it is some form of rootkit so my system can be easily identified when i go on the internet?

If you are concerned about your machine being rootkited, download and run
AntiMalware Bytes and run a system scan, though in this case I would doubt it...
