    Upgrading from Ubuntu

My problem is that my laptop has Ubuntu on it. I had Vista but it had many, many viruses so I completely deleted it and put Ubuntu on it.

I was wondering can I still upgrade to Windows without Vista. I have Windows 7 Home Premium. Plus, I have no internet for my laptop. (I use broadbands)

(Hope that was clear enough, I am very tired and don't feel like typing right now. )

    Welcome!

That would depend on what version of Windows 7 you have, Full or Retail. Legally, you could not install the Upgrade version unless you already have a version of Windows on it already.

If your computer originally had Vista (has a little sticker with the key and Vista Version on it) then yes, it is legal but if the installer refuses to install unless it can read the old OS's key than you have to follow a workaround (ask, i don't know).

Also, after a while you will probably rethink your stance that Windows is an upgrade from Ubuntu.

The truth is it is fully possible to do a clean install with an upgrade version, but I do not want to tell how to do it, as I suspect it would be illegal in this case.

To the OP: I advise you to buy the full version, or reinstall Vista before upgrading. The latter is probably your best bet.
