    Just download this :

    Browse GParted Files on SourceForge.net

Burn the ISO to a CD and use the GNOME Partition Editor to delete/create partitions. Its quite self-explaining.

When you click that link you'll see a big, green download button. Click it, save the iso and then burn it to cd.

Make your Recovery disks first. The Recovery partition will likely be disabled if you install XP over Win7.

Why do you want to abandon Win7, which is the future, to go back to an obolete OS?

I echo gregrocker. You should consider a dual boot system since you now have the latest OS.

unfortunately my solidworks 2009 and autocad 2009 does not work with windows 7. which was the main reason for the new computer. plus figured with the old OS, XP, all softwares work with it already. will look at the dual boost installation now. cant seem to get to the XP installation part that allows me to delete all the partitions. even set the startup on the BIOS to startup on the cd and not hard drive.
