Dual boot problem, XP and 7, cannot choose between them

Hey all,

Yesterday I attempted a dual-boot configuration. I shrunk my C: drive which had Windows 7 on it, and then booted up and installed Windows XP on the new partition.

Everything was fine, XP started up brilliantly. I attempted to try the EasyBCD thing, but it kept booting up Windows XP and wouldn't let me choose Windows 7.

I fiddled around with EasyBCD for a bit, (stupid of me), and now the opposite is happening, I'm booting into Windows 7. I just want to be able to choose between them when the computer loads up.

A bit of information first off.

- In EasyBCD, It says this in the settings tab:

There is one entry in the Vista Bootloader.
Bootloader Timeout: 30 seconds.
Default OS: Windows 7 Professional (recovered)

Entry #1

Name: Windows 7 Professional (recovered)
BCD ID: {current}
Drive: C:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
Windows Directory: \Windows

What does the Windows 7 Professional "recovered" mean?

- I marked the XP partition as "active". Was this a bad move?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Use EasyBCD 2.0 in Win 7.

I'm trying to install it now and I'm getting an error:

Error Opening file for writing:
C:\Program Files (x86)\NeoSmart Technologies\Easy BCD\EasyBCD.exe

Any thoughts on what this might be?

Okay, so update: I've just fixed the initial problem, I can choose between the two installations now. But when I choose XP it says I can't open the OS due to a missing NTLDR file.

How can I repair this?

Just tried that now, it doesn't work. XP says the NTLDR file is either missing or corrupt.

If I fix the NTLDR file with my XP disc, will that ruin the bootloader I've just made with EasyBCD?
