    Easy Transfer

here is a link to my other thread

    Windows easy transfer

I am having many issues since using easy transfer to bring xp files to win 7. the transfer put a lot of files on my comp i dont know if i need (and would be taking up space). for example, yesterday after a easy transfer it showed a lot of C:/i386 files added. but they were from xp, do i need them on 7?

When files are transferred by Windows Easy Transfer, do they replace any files already on the computer or just add to them? I think if problems persist, then Ill just back up everything on my comp and reinstall windows 7. then when putting files back on i can differentiate between whats needed from XP. is this too radical?

No it just adds them. No you do not need those. Not if just switching personal files. Only switch person stuff then.

Best way really is to do this with a backup program and system. I really dont like the transfer system windows uses. Way better using other ways and 3rd party apps and an external hard drive.

One like Active disk image, or even fbackup

    PS`
Sorry.. I didnt read your other thread tho soo.. Not sure if this will pertain then or if there was an unanswer error or problem or if this will help on this part of question. But it should. At least for this one.
