Can't activate windows 7 home premium - Key is invalid

I upgraded to windows 7 home premium from windows 7 starter. It did work, but now I have to activate it. I have 30 days or so left. I have entered the key in and it says the key is invalid for activation.

I just want to get this activated. I would prefer to activate over the phone, but it doesn't give me the option to do that. Only online, and that doesn't work.

If my key doesn't work, is there any websites that give away valid working ones so I can get this activated? I just spent all my money on this key so I have none left

I don't know why my key isn't working.

    Thanks for any help!

    Hello CamCracker,

Double check your product key number to make sure that you have entered it correctly. It's real easy to type a 0 instead of 0 or B instead of 8.

If that's not it, then this will show you how to manually do a phone activation.

    Hope this helps,

Well first off, no there is no site that gives away keys, or programs that generate keys I'd trust.

Secondly, make sure you follow these guides in activating.

    Activate Windows 7 Online
    Activate Windows 7 by Phone

Did you use a DVD to upgrade, or use the anytime upgrade?

Not sure if this applies in your case, but I ran into the same situation trying to install a valid copy of Windows 7 Home Premium on an existing OEM Windows XP.

It kept saying my product key was invalid, no matter how many times I entered it correctly.

As I recall Windows will give you an error code that may help find the cause of your problem. I found a list of error codes at the following link.

If none of the other information that has been provided helps, you could call the activation center for your area. If the key does not work you will be automatically elevated to a rep. These phone number have helped several others at this forum, I hope that you will soon be one of them, good luck

    Is this an "anytime upgrade"?
Where did you buy the key?
Where did you get the copy of Win 7 Home?
    Need more details.
