Sorry to bump this again. But I have the same problem with a Dell Inspiron laptop and I don't have Windows 7 install DVD, is there any way I can fix it?

My approach for double booting with a Windows 7/8 installation is different.

Make an image of the system partition (which contains the bootmgr) before you make the double boot installation.

Then if you want to get rid of the double booted OS, restore that image and reformat the partition that contains the double booted OS.

That whole operation takes only a couple of minutes and is one of the advantages of having a system partition.

Thank You

I tried many other methods from many other websites with no results and your solution worked perfectly the first time. Thank you so much, this was turning into a bad day.

Win 7 Pro SP1 64-bit

I spent hours trying to fix my Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit MBR. I tried all sorts of solutions but nothing worked...except for yours! One thing you should do before applying the solution - unplug all the drives expect the boot drive where my windows installation is located.

Thank you very much for posting this!
