can't install win 7

Did the compatibility checker have any problems with the computer?

If you have gotten all the way to the network setup, there may be some things to try.

First, maybe turning off the network adapter in the bios will allow the install to complete.

Second, are you giving it enough time. There are circumstances where the install can take quite a bit of time to complete.

If neither of these two things are relevant, you might try one of the next two suggestions.

Load and boot to the install DVD. Go to the second window and select Repair.
Try using the command prompt and type the following:
bootrec /fixmbr
hit enter
bootrec /fixboot
hit enter

Close window and try to reboot.

If that doesn't help, go back into the repair section and select startup repair and run it 2 or 3 times.

If the install if far enough along, it might allow you to recover the Win 7 install, but no promises.

Can you get your hands on a non-nvidia video card and swap for test purposes? Might eliminate a possibility?

Yea I've left it on the locked screen for 8+ hours and nothing. so I know its not that I'm not being patient with it.

mbr fix didn't work. Also tried the disabling network controllers didn't work but I am trying another install without them enabled to see if that fixes it.

thank you, disabling the 2 network cards allowed a clean install to finish.

Did you run the Windows Upgrade Advisor- this would have indicated some installation issues: Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - Download - Microsoft Windows.

What is your SATA controller setting in BIOS? Try ACHI. The mobo has the drivers in Win7 installer.

If already set to ACHI, what are the other settings?
