disabling instant messenger
I never use IM and in XP I always disabled it. I would like to do the same in my new laptop running Windows 7 home premium but do not know how to do it in W7. Can someone kindly advise?
Thanks

Which IM program are you referring to?
There are none installed by default, so just don't install one.
I just assumed Windows installed them by default. This is anew laptop and I think it had AOL trial installed on it but I quickly got rid of that.
What would I search for to see if IM is active because of some installation I am not aware of? I use Thunderbird for email.
Thanks.
With the info you gave me I discovered that HP had installed Windows Live essentials and that included Live Instant Messenger, so I removed it. Any other IMs I should search for?
