What`s your purpose for going from HP to Pro, do you want to install more then 16 GB of memory ?
I have older 3D modeling programs on my Win 7 professional laptop that work flawlessly there, but crash on my home PC which has Win 7 Home Premium. I have tried every compatibility mode for them, and nothing seems to work.
I figured it would be cheaper to upgrade my Windows, then it would be to purchase upgrades for the other programs.

In order to go from Windows 7 Home Premium to Professional you will have to buy Windows 7 Professional. They are about $140.00.

Be very careful where you get it from. Their are many counterfeits being sold.

Will I have to do a wipe/clean install?
I'm trying to avoid that, if possible.

Yes you would have to do a clean install.

AddRAM made a good point. If the program will run on Pro it should run on Home Premium.

Their is not much difference in the two. The big thing is with Pro you can run more than 16 gigs of ram.

Well, I definitely have issues with multiple programs (especially older ones.) I wish I knew how to "repair" my Home Premium, but it came pre-installed and I don't have a CD/DVD.

Also, I see "upgrades" for sale on Ebay.
    I REALLY don't want to do a wipe/clean install.
The "Anytime Upgrade" didn't require a clean install - is there no way to duplicate that process, even if I have to buy it?

THANKS! I wasn't having any issues with Microsoft Office, however.
But, at one time I had Office 2010 installed, then went back to 2007 (because that's what I have on my laptop)
My point is, that I have installed and uninstalled so many programs over the years on this PC that I probably messed something up.
