I didn't do a clean install - I just "updated" my Win 7 Home Premium. I THOUGHT I was done updating, last night, but I see this evening that I have 213 updates yet to install.

Their will be somewhere over 200 Windows 7 updates.
I have 226 on this system. It will vary a little for different systems.

Hi,
Indeed sp1 was released I believe in 2009 shortly after win-7 was released
There has been roughly 325 updates issues after sp1
There is a unofficial sp2 not sure it will apply to you at this point though but does contain updates through April 2016,
Refer to post #2 here

There are several programs which can update wim files ( e.g. install.wim) Useful for both clean and upgrade/repair installations.

This is useful and also runs in pe:

Don't try to install 213+- updates at any one sitting; pick the option that suggests available downloads; when presented with the listing of available downloads, pick 5-10 at a time, especially when dealing with biggies.

What are wim files, and why is it useful to update them?
Just curious before I run that program.

At some point in 2012, Windows Update was "disabled" after a failed update.
I never noticed it (or any issues) until recently.

Hi,
LOL who would miss peace and quiet from no failed updates or prompts to upgrade to win-10 and dodging those win-10 updates for the past 2+ years
I actually envy you
