    Clean Install Reboot Problems

Hi, I'm doing a clean install of Windows 7 64bit to replace the RC version and the installation hangs during reboots. (Step 10 of the tutorial; Clean Install Windows 7[2]=General%20Tips) I reformatted the drive, booted from a Windows OEM DVD, and it loaded perfectly through 100%. After rebooting, I get a black screen with a working mouse cursor. After a while, the PC times out and suspends itself.
When I try a hard reboot, I get a "Windows Was Not Shutdown Properly" message, and the option to boot in Safe Mode, or Normal Mode. Normal Mode booting results in the same black screen with mouse cursor. In safe mode, I get the proper 'Setup is preparing your computer..." message before the install process stops due to being in safe mode.

Kinda weird! Thanks for any help!

I have 4 sticks of RAM on board, I'll try installing with a few of them removed.

Test the RAM fully as well with Windows Memory Diagnostic Test in Win7 DVD Repair console Recovery Tools.

Do you have onboard graphics you can default to during install? If so, unplug graphics card.

Is there a tv tuner or graphics card which is outputted to another source like a t.v. or projector. This happens sometimes when the card driver loads and it is no longer outputted to monitor.

    Got it, thank you!

The video output was defaulting to another source. One monitor had the proper setup screen while my former primary monitor had the blank screen. At least I didn't take too much apart trying to find the problem. Thank you for the help!
