    Partition expansion

I decided to delete the hidden Asus restore partition from my cloned hard drive. The drive had 2 partitions, the hidden one, then the C: drive (with system and data).

This was before I found out that the Windows 7 Disk Management tool will not allow you to expand a partition to the left.

So now I have 15 GB of space at the start of the drive and the only option on the C: drive is to shrink the partition.

Any way using Windows to add that space to my primary partition?

You need to use a third party tool to move your partition to the start of the drive, then windows will let you expand it to fill the drive.

The one which works the best with Win7 is free Partition Wizard bootable CD.

Boot PW, select 1 for screen res, Rightclick on Win7 partition, select Resize, slide grey left border all the way over to the left over deleted Recov Partition, OK, make sure Win7 is still Active, apply all steps.

Win7 will not boot now as MBR has been moved. So boot into Win7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD, click through to Recovery Tools list to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots to repair or rewrite the MBR to Win7.

Partition Wizard also has a Rebuild MBR selection and is what I used when I re-sized my system partition.
