    How to downgrade to vista

    Dear all

I have hp laptop dv6615em and I would like to downgarde from window 7 to vista factory setting. I can not go to system recovery in windows 7 by using f11 or f10 key while booting. There is no option in laptop saying hp recovery manager or recovery, all I can see is hp d drive recovery partition in my comuter next to c drive. Can I restore my laptop back to factory setting using hp recovery partition showing in drive d if not what is my next option.

I don't have recovery disk and my internal original dvd drive is not workign either.

    Many thanks in advance.

If you have no way of accessing your recovery partition, you will need to purchase a new copy of Vista... sorry

Replied in your other post. If you cannot trigger Recov partition, then you need to find a Vista installer to use to activate with your key stickered to computer.

Any Vista installer will work although you may need to unlock all versions by removing ei.cfg file in Sources, then recompiling into an all-versions installer using flash stick or DVD.

Thank you so much for your response Tews and gregrocker.

gregrocker can i install vista home premium installer from microsoft website or any other site where i don't have to change anything from sources apart from using my key from stickered beneath my lappy and do I have to install drivers like sound etc. from hp site after vista installation.

Can I also use my external dvd rw to use recovery disk if I order from Hp company because my internal dvd is not working. Can I boot recovery disk from external dvd rw because someone told me I may not be able to boot recovery disk from external dvd.

Have a look on your HD to see if you have a folder called windows.old

    For recovery dvd's try here:

You'll need to write the Recovery DVD or Vista DVD you borrow or locate to a USB flash stick to boot for install.

If you still have Windows 7, you might be able to roll back to Vista using windows.old folder:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932912

or run Vista Setup after extracting files to Win7 desktop.
