probably a stooopid ? about processor

My wifes laptop has an AMD Turion 64X2 processing chip, but the laptop had come w/ Vista 32 bit software. I installed 7068 32 bit version of win 7, can I install the 64 bit versions of win 7, and will it make a difference?

This system will support X64 Windows 7. You will not be able to upgrade to the 64 bit version, it will have to be a clean install.

Will it make a difference? Yes and No. Your 32 bit apps will work, and more apps are being wreitten for 64 bit. The next version of Microsoft Office is said to support 64 bit. 64 bit will allow you to use more memory. In my opinion, 64 bit version is faster than the 32 bit version.

I don't think you would be disappointed if you put the 64 bit version on this laptop.

Kind of figured, but unsure about processor. I hace a desktop that I am running 7068 64bit, and love it, and have been using all betas since 7000. Her laptop only has 1 gig of ram, and it seems to be fine, and certainly as good, if not better than Vista which was on it.
