Yes it is. I understand MS's point of view. But their piracy concerns and fight should not adversely affect their legitimate users. I could understand a once a year re-validation for all users; but I think every three months is overkill.

Did you read any links provided to find out exactly what this was and what to expect in the future?

They have been fairly upfront in disclosing what the Update does, so they should tell you what this intrusion is about.

Interesting points ... I checked the actual KB wording from the MS page and it says nothing about re-validating at any frequency.

So, maybe that was all FUD ... design to scare folks into thinking that MS would continually come back to haunt them, even after they've run the update?

of course it doesn't. we are talking about nosy microsour. guilty til proven innocent. just manually run windows update monthly and pick and choose which updates you actually want.
