Win7 Upgrade?
Can you simply upgrade from 7068 to 7077 using the installation disc keeping installed programs etc intact?

It is always Advised to do a Clean Install, with any Beta software, but yes. I did an upgrade since the 7000 build and am now up to 7077. Everything runs better now than any OS I've ever used.
I implore you NEVER to do an upgrade. EVER. Not on your OS.
Find a way to streamline your re-installs by putting all the files that you need into a convenient directory called "Files after format"
I have got my re-installs down to 1:00 to get my computer running the way it was.
Acronis backup for your data, then after re-install, mount the image and restore whatever you need
You can have the best of both worlds.
Before doing a clean install, copy your appdata folder somewhere other than the os drive as that will have program settings such as emails etc. Then format and install. Then as you come to install programs you can copy the files from appdata. Its best to do one program at a time when your installing the program rather than the whole appdata at once.
Discovered I can't upgrade between 7068 and 7077 (x64).
I get an unexpected error 0xC0000005 "verify installation source are accessible and restart the installation." Well did this 3 times and gave up.
Couldn't be dicked doing a fresh install so I'll wait. If my iso is corrupted I'm certainly not going to go through the trouble of downloading 3.04G again that's for sure .. lol!
For one thing 7 isn't ready for the upgrade option at this time but will simply pack everything into the Windows.old folder when "replacing" the existing build using the custom option. And simply copying the app data and other folders to somewhere else to copy back later won't see running programs. The new installation will see the new registry as well.
When tossing the 7077 x64 on here I simply let it pack everything into the Windows.old while any other installation would be seen on a fresh primary unless there was some need to preserve the existing files and folders since all that is backed up anyways.
HI,
similar question : I'm running on Win 7 x64 7057 and I would like to know if I could upgrade without losing any config of my programs and not waist time to reinstall all the programs again by using the final copy of Win 7 that will be resealed at the end of the year.
I would like to upgrade from Win 7 x64 7057 Ultimate to Win 7 x64 Final Version Home Premium. Is it possible, or it must be Win 7 x64 7057 Ultimate -> Win 7 x64 Final Ultimate ???
