Thanks for the good advice ZigZag Since my Win 7 disk is an upgrade I think I need to install XP on both partitions and then upgrade one of them to Win 7 I can't see where that will be a problem, do you?

I believe what BFK is trying to point out is that it is not possible to do an upgrade installation of W7 over XP. You will need to do a clean installation as per his link.

Be sure to install XP first, on the second partition of the HDD and put Windows 7 on the first partition of the HDD, your life will be a whole lot easier later.
