    Conflicts in what sense?

All of the apps should work the same. (You should make sure that you have updated drivers for everything from the manufacturer, etc.) Other than that, I can't think of where there would be a conflict.

FWIW, I moved from XP to Windows 7 without anything breaking.

Download the Windows Upgrade Advisor and let it run. It will detect potential problems for you.

Download details: Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor

I'd listen to the HP tech support folks. There have probably been quite a few HP owners that called to complain about hardware/software suddenly not working after upgrading to Windows 7.

Ive done a few HP Pavilion laptop installs, three of them in-place upgrade. Never had any problems. The thing with installation is to do it properly, not to use any shortcuts. Most noticeable has been that without an exception, the Pavilion laptops I have in-place upgraded have not had any major driver problems after upgrade.

Although clean install is the preferred method, I belong to that minority who has nothing against in-place upgrade. I have had some problems when upgrading, but as it has always later been proven, the problems remained also after clean install so they had nothing to do with installation method.

If you even consider an in-place upgrade, read this: A simple guide to a successful in-place upgrade.

    Good luck!
