    Windows 7 upgrade CD won't read


    Specifications:
    Samsung X460 Laptop
    intel Centrino 2

    Problem: I recently recieved a windows 7 upgrade media for Samsung. I put the CD in and it starts to get louder and beeps continuously, but nothing loads from the CD. I tried going to MY COMPUTER and clicking on the CD, but it wouldnt open.

    Any ideas?

    win7 should be a DVD, does your laptop have a DVD drive ?

    Try booting from the DVD. A clean install from booted DVD is preferred to running disk from Vista.

    Read the accompanying literature closely. There may be special instructions for booting to clean install, or even running disk. Call Samsung Tech SUpport to get help needed as they will have the steps needed to workaround stalls and problems.

    The beeps could be trouble. Mobos have built in beep codes for various hardware failures.

    Don't forget, if you decide to do a clean install, save all your data on an exterior media source, as all your data will be written over at install.
