Do you have another computer you could try the DVD in?

Bottom line, if you burned the DVD as an image and not a data disc and it is useable, and you have your system set to boot to a DVD, then either something is still wrong with the DVD or your system is not operating correctly.

If you can't get it sorted out, you may have to go the bootable flash drive route.

Is that the latest BIOS version? There are newer BIOS for many mobos since Win7 arose.

The exact failure by Vista DVD means it is a BIOS or Optical Drive failure. Eliminate OD by trying another. Update BIOS, try another SATA port.

Is the installer booting? It sounds like it is defaulting to HD which has no OS.

Use the one-time Boot Menu key given on first BIOS screen. Make sure you are booting either DVD or flash stick (listed under HD's sometimes).
