Windows 7: Windows 7 Ultimate on Toshiba A35-S159 Successful

Windows 7 Home Premium

Yes I've maxed the screen resolution and it ends up at 1024 x 768 which is acceptable on a 15 inch screen.

I wonder what the user who started this post did to find all his drivers.

Also, funny thing.I shut the computer down using the start/shut down button and then close the lid. When I open the lid the machine starts up automatically

Maybe I should go back to XP.

You may have the start button programmed to Sleep or Hibernate in Power Options, then the lid is one which will resume when opened. I would frankly like to have a lid like that.

If you're happy with the Display for now I'd keep testing it until you know for sure, while trying to find a newer driver.

Did you try the XP driver both by running the .exe normally and then in Compat Mode for XP SP3? Now browse to where it unzipped the drivers, find the Setup, rightclick>Properties and set Compatibility there to XP SP3 for all users, then run Setup.

I only did a cursory check for the latest driver so look for more recent by searching the chipset + display video driver. Then add Vista Windows 7. Then use XP.

Hey..thanks sooo much for all your help. Even though I didn't find a way to make the video controller icon go away in devise manager, everything else was good. I even discovered the sound problem which was a small round dial (who ever heard of such a thing) on the side of the machine. It was turned down thus the reason for no sound.

Anyway after all that, some dude shows up and said he wanted to install Linux on it and didn't care about windows...ha!

Thanks again!!!
