    installing x86 software on w7 x64


    Hi all,

    Will installing a x86 version application damage my w7 x64 notebook?

    Welcome!

    No, it won't damage your notebook at all. There are a handful of apps that will not work on 64-bit, but it will just result in an error message.

    The truth is, even on 64-bit systems, most applications are 32-bit.

    So i can install the application without worries? It might only result in the application not working if i understand correct?

My PC has two users ( myself and wife). Upgraded from vista ( the computer, not the wife :D) In her log-in I can install software no problem. In mine I get an error if it's an msi install. Error 2203 Has anyone got any idea where I should look for the problem?

I have been running win7 x64 for a month. I am coming from a winxp environment so I am not familiar with the changes introduced by vista. When installing software if I right click on the .exe, I am presented with the option to Run as administrator. Or I can just double click the .exe file....
