... I'm officially at a loss...
I'm assuming you have a drive that's on it's way to harddrive heaven... I'm hoping that I'm wrong though...

@zzz2496: I was able to get to the command prompt using the f8 option. when I tried to check the disk using chkdsk it says something like RAW. then later, it is already unrecognized. I need those data found at the Hard drive. OHHH!
Can you read the data off that HDD using other means (Linux/XP/whatever you got there)? If it said RAW, most of the time you're screwed... But I think most of data recovery software can recover it... probably a corrupted MFT or something...

I only got one OS installed to my PC. Ill try to install Xp later. Just got home from vacation.
You want the HD diagnostics for your make HD which theog posted. Burn to CD, it will autostart with HD plugged.
HD diagnostics/repair full scans can repair HD's and extend their life indefinitely. I have saved many HD's using GWScan for WD and most other makes. You only need to autostart it and run full scan to find out what will be.
Reimaging is formating the pc and installing xp, vista, or windows 7 over again. Its usually the last resort. But if you have a backup image it much faster than troubleshooting.
