Will games carry over with out back up?

    Will games carry over with out back up?


    HI, I have Garrys mod on my pc and wanted to know if when i upgrade to win 7 will it carry over without me backing up the files?

    It may still be in the Windows.old folder that will be in the Local Disc. Though I doubt it will run with out a reinstall.

    Steam games are very easy to transport between upgrades with no installing or re-downloading of the games (unless you format the drive they were on)

    Quit Steam, go to where your Steam Folder is located and move it to the root of C drive or to another physical partition or drive.

    Do your upgrade to Win 7.
    After Win 7 is installed, download Steam from the website.
    Now, you can either move the Steam Folder back in to Program Files or just leave it where it's at.
    Install Steam and point the install to the Steam Folder. If you left it on the root of C, then you would point the install to C:\Steam\

    After it is installed, all of your games will be there ready to run.
