    Installing XP on Different Partition

I got a msdn/technet subscription through my school, and i downloaded the MS XP SP3 x86(x32) to use as another OS. Because i feel that Windows 7 uses too much CPU/GPU when running to watch my blu-rays(streamed to tv through optical/hdmi cable) than XP uses. So i want to install XP, then stream my blu-rays to my tv while watching them in XP.
But - it wont let me install it!(Is it because i have a x64 computer, but the XP is x32?)

(I mounted the .iso, instead of burning, only 1 CD left :P)

I don't think that's the reason, I'm no install expert but I have 7 64bit on one partition and vista 32bit on another partition, same physical drive.

I think you need to make a Bootable CD / DVD & boot from it. But have a clean formatted partition already made to install the XP on.

If you want to install it from the .iso, you could install it in a Virtual Box partition. That would be the easiest, but I do not know how that would be for running the Blue rays.

    Well - i think that would be counter-productive Running Win7+VM then blu-rays too ^^

Anyway - thanks guys. I think its just my computer :P
But I've gotten help with it in a Linux distro - so thanks again

Boot the XP CD and install to space you create by shrinking Win7 in Disk Management.

Create the partition and format using XP CD.

Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP

Installing XP last will write MBR to XP, so install EasyBCD 2.0 in XP (after doing quick registration to use beta) to add Win7 back to Dual Boot menu. You will need Net Framework 2.0 installed first to use Easy in XP.
