    XP to Win 7 problem

Co-worker has a laptop that has Vista installed. She purchased Win 7 and had her brother install it.Now the dreaded bootmgr is missing error is showing up.I tried to do a repair, but it doesn't find an O/S.I have a repair disc and still didn't work.I don't know what he has done, but it appears he has screwed something up.I also tried a upgrade and a custom install from the repair menu ,but still a no go. She said that if the hard drive had to be cleaned to do a full install, that would be ok,but I can't get it that far.Eventhough it was an upgrade and she has a genuine Win 7 key, would borrowing an win 7 disc do any good?Any suggestions? Thanks

    disk 0 partition 1: System reserved 100.0mb 86.0mb system
    disk 0 partition 2 298.0gb 297.2gb primary

I assume I need to format partition2,because it tells me that it may contain files, etc that will be erased?

The MBR is most likely on this 100MB partition. Try to fix it there - e.g. with EasyBCD.

It allows you to fix a defunct MBR.
