    windows cannot install required files

so long story short, i was going through my programs using autoruns for windows.
there was a bunch of startup programs that didnt show up in systemconfiguration that i didnt need, such as punkbuster for games i dont have installed on my computer.
i disabled some of them, which caused windows to seriously crash.
i tried using startup repair which didnt work as usual, same with system restore.
so i decided to reinstall windows and use aomei backupper to restore my computer again, which usually works.
but after trying to install windows, i got this message saying windows cannot install required files, the file may be corrupt or missing.
i have tried just about all the solutions i could find.
so the solution for me was to unplug my ssd from my desktop, put it in my laptop, install windows on my ssd while it was in my laptop, then unplug it from my laptop and put it back in my desktop again, and now it works.
my question is, whats causing this?
i would like to know so i dont have to go through all of this again.
    thanks

There is no way to find out what was issue so Windows could not install the required files.
Were you using a DVD or USB drive?

why is there no way to find out?
i was using a usb media installation tool.
my computer works right now, i checked the usb stick and it works, my laptop works, my desktop works, there is no problem, everything works.
i feel like windows is making a big issue out of nothing.
it should just install the os, i should not have to go through all of this.
but i would really like to know why windows is doing this.

i just tried to reinstall windows again, just for testing.
this time it installs fast and without any problems.
its the same computer, same hardware, nothing has changed.
so the problem must be with the os.
i may try to make a bootable usb media using aomei, that way i should be able to restore my computer without reinstalling windows first.
