Yes. I followed the tutorial. When you reboot, it starts Windows 7 for the first time, incorporating an 'installing devices' section. At which it gets stuck. I imagine it normally goes past quite quickly, as it the percentage was ticking up nice and fast until 62%

I called it the installer because I couldn't think of a better word. I did put it in inverted commas though, because it's not the real installer.

I think this is a genuine bug, and not one related to the method of installation (which I must say in itself is very neat) because it seems to have exactly the same behaviour as when Windows is installed with the DVD. Therefore, to ask the tutorial writer for help would be unfair because it's not the new install method that's causing the problem.

ok. The install method is awesome. the tutorial is easy to follow and it is extremely fast. I would have done it already if it wasnt for those darn boot files. i think i have them but my pc boots windows xp still.

Can you try disconnect your LAN able, Wireless Router, ensure the OS can't get drivers from WU and do the installation.

I unplugged everything I could grasp. Including:
2GB of RAM (out of 4GB)
Hauppagge TV Tuner
Keyboard + Mouse (replaced with PS/2)
Second Monitor
Floppy Drive
Memory Card Reader
And disabled anything that I didn't need in the BIOS (USB and 2.0 support)

Installation worked perfectly.
The TV Tuner doesn't work (it caused BSOD in XP also) and many people say that it is very unstable. I guess that was a waste of money. If your install fails try removing any of the above.

Windows 7 seems as though it will take over from XP since for me it has been awesome. One downpoint is that Company Of Heroes won't install properly, I have to use XP to play the game.

OK. I M A PC, does the installer look for drivers from Windows Update? That's impressive, I didn't know that.

Kallb123, I have a Hauppauge TV tuner, but unlike yours it's worked fine for me under XP and Vista, and didn't cause any problems with 7 Beta either (it worked properly, installed and picked up signal). I've tried installing with a PS/2 keyboard, and that didn't help, even having disabled USB in the BIOS. I don't have anything else to unplug, except the sound card maybe.

I'll give it a try without the LAN cable plugged in and with no TV Tuner though, thanks. Seems strange that it would produce a BUG_USB_DRIVER error for a PCI TV Tuner though...

the hauppauge pci card is just a usb device made into pci. the lan cable is needed to download updates but you can give it a shot if nothing else works.

Windows Setup will download and install drivers when you use the "Upgrade Install", It doesn't install drivers from Windows Update when your using the "Custom Install" method or when your installing a fresh copy
