Admin Problem with Windows 7 Install New Laptop

Quick answer is no.

I am the only user of my computer and I have 2 adm accounts and a standard account. I do not even use the adm account. If I get some sort of nasty in my computer it will infect the standard account, hopefully limiting damage (a procedure that will be disagreed by many). I do not suggest that you follow my procedure, but have 2 Adm accounts, and do not use one of them. I have seen many, posts, like yours, that would have been solved with a second adm account.

Now you cleared the password, should you delete the second account created...it shouldn't be a matter to be borked twice as you did it a little on purpose when creating the first account.

Trust me, no problems following my recommendation, but possible advantages.

This admin account was the only account on the system (that I ceated, there's the locked Administration account) and I did all the updates, and as you know you have to reboot quit often. I was able to login several times that day as dumbshoot1 to complete the updates. Then I shutdown for the night. I'm the only one here . . . .

The next morning I boot up, and for the life of me (have the piece of paper 'admin dumbshoot1' right in front of me) can not log in. (Wrong user name or password) For the principle of the thing I spent 5 hours on it, before deleting it.

Many years as an admin, and have never seen this before.

So my question is, can the code of the login process ever fail in this manner? We know the 'authentication' process itself can be hacked, I've just never seen my dilema before.

I am going to do as richc46 suggests and that's about all I have to say now . . . .

Humm, might be an update during the process that have cleared the password...

I have never created an Admin account straight when booted up first time on an Os..In that case it is Windows 7.

Nor i did created a password, too frightened to forget it just after!!!

So, i did always created afterward the Admin account and in the User Control Panel created a password that i can alway reset in case (once i did as you and did have to reset it) it fail.

Windows 7 should be running as Standard user and NO Admin account for safety. If you need more rights, just disable or low down the UAC Fonction.
